Cambodians traditionally use them both outdoors and indoors, for eating or sleeping. They are made of rushes that grow along the river and woven on manual looms. The reed placemats come from this tradition. The designs are traditional and we submit new inspirations to them. Craftsmanship is also part of the Cambodian tradition : it gives them additional income when they are farmers. We are proudly working with a French / Cambodian collective of artisans in the Kandal province of Cambodia, who know the craftsmen personally, mainly a collective of women to whom this work allows them to stay living in the countryside with their family rather than in a city whete conditions are precarious. This organization that we are working with is also active in various associations that help build schools or dig wells and provide clean fresh water.
Our goal with this product is to both preserve an ancient craft and a traditional way of life.
