At the Table of Love, we pride ourselves that we are able to apply our beautiful patterns onto linen and cotton via ancient hand-blocking technique. This is not a tablecloth that is machine-printed that you can wash aggressively. This requires some gentle care and thought about how to care for them. We've put together this guide so that you can take care of your Table of Love cloths well. ---------- Block-printed cloths are not only textiles but classic pieces of art. Whether in the detailed hand-carved blocks or the painstaking application of different elements of dyes, every way is loving. In each fabric, there is a centuries-old tradition Indian prints, culture, and craft that is represented in every print. This guide tells you how to treat block-printed fabrics at home properly, so that you can keep their charm and vitality for years. WHAT ARE BLOCK-PRINTED FABRICS? Block printing is a practical way of printing done by hand, with regard to stamping designs on a piece of cloth material. This materian can be cotton, linen, or silk. The dyes are commonly natural, that is, made of plants, minerals, or even rust, and may be at risk of detergent chemicals, Sunlight, and friction. OWING TO THIS CRAFT WORK, BLOCK-PRINTED FABRICS ARE:- More prone to bleeding of color May wear out with age unless well-maintained Have to be kept with soft handling to preserve their shapes and textures Taking care of them properly offers the possibility of a prolonged life, as well as makes handmade art last. Some Effective Ways To Take Care Of Block-Printed Fabrics At Home Consider the following measure if you want to preserve fabric color at home:- READ THE LABEL FIRST ALWAYS & KNOW YOUR MACHINE. The obvious rule of fabric care is to read the label. A lot of block-printed items, particularly the ones retailing under artisan brands like ours, carry special instructions on how to wash block printed fabrics, dry, and even iron them. If your block-printed fabric is labelled dry clean, you should not hand wash it as it may damage the art and fabric. The larger percentage of the block-printing cotton fabrics can, however, be washed at home using proper methods. WASH SEPARATELY TO AVOID COLOR BLEEDING Fabrics that have been block printed and have been dyed with natural dyes may run with colour in the early washes. They must be washed separately so that they do not stain other clothes. You can consider these washing tips for during the initial stages: Pre-wet the fabric by first letting it soak in cold, fresh water for 10-15 minutes. No detergent should be used in the soaking process- plain water would be sufficient. Do not spot-rub - it will fade the area you rub. These natural fabric care tips are useful in getting rid of the unwanted dye and minimizing the chances of color run-off in subsequent stages. USE MILD, NATURAL DETERGENTS Items such as harsh detergents, fabric softeners, and bleaches may degrade the printing on the fabric. A mild, chemical-free detergent will help safeguard your block-printed cloth, preferably one designed to wash intricate or hand-wash only materials. Further, you can choose:- Eco-friendly Fabric Care Laundry Soaps Use PH-Neutral Solutions These variants clean efficiently, and the integrity of the dyes as well as the softness of the fabric are not affected. HAND WASH OR WASH ON GENTLE MACHINE SETTINGS The safest way is to do hand washing, particularly on very delicate or high printing cloths. Put some cold water in a bucket or a basin with a slight detergent and soak. In case you would like to use a washing machine for gentle fabric washing:- Keep the use of the delicate or gentle cycle always on Set the water temperature to cold Put the fabric in a laundry mesh bag to draw extra protection PREVENT PROLONGED SOAKING The dyes can bleed - which may occur after long soaking, or colors may fade. Soak no more than 10-15 minutes. When you soak several pieces, they should be of the same color. After soaking, take the fabric out by pressing gently. Do not twist or wring the fabric. It needs to be handled with care so as not to wear it too quickly. DRY IN SHADE, NOT DIRECT SUNLIGHT UV rays are very sensitive to natural dyes. You are likely to experience fading and patchy discoloration of deep reds, blues, and indigos if you dry in direct sunlight. Maintenance tips:- Hang your table linen in the shade or a ventilated room. Hang it inside, so as not to damage the print side. Do not use tumble dryers, because cotton materials are shrunk and orders with prints disappear quickly under the high temperatures. IRON ON LOW HEAT AND REVERSE SIDE If It is crinkled when it dries out, Iron it around the back side, the lowest heat possible, to remove roughness without damaging the print. For protection, you can consider:- Using cotton cloth over the fabric before ironing Iron on a low to medium setting Never iron on top of the print, This process contributes to preserving the clearness and brightness of the design and the appearance of brand-new and well-groomed material. KEEP IT WELL TO AVOID WRINKLES AND FADING How you keep your block-printed fabrics is also equally important as how you wash them. To maintain them fresh, soft, and vibrant, consider:- After folding them, put them somewhere dry, cool, and dark. Use the cotton or muslin bags we provide with the product instead of plastic covers that hold moisture. FINAL THOUGHTS Our block prints are unique, soulful, and full of life. However, that natural attractiveness comes along with the need for care-conscious care. Considering weather temperature, quality of detergents, drying and storing tips help to keep them new. These are some of the little habits that can avoid fabric fading, keeping your beautiful block-printed pieces in their integrity. Remember one important thing: proper care means longevity.
