Influenced by a recent trip to Kenya and blown away by the beauty of the land and its people we have created a series of one-off inspirational products. These napkins are made from woven ‘Kikoi’, they are a traditional rectangle of woven cloth originating from Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar. It is considered to be a folkloric & integral part of Swahili culture, the Kikoi is fringed & was worn predominantly by the coastal man but now includes the Maasai people of Kenya. We had the opportunity to work directly with Maasai craftsmen & women and there are no middlemen in between. One Kikoi can make 6 unique napkins. We have use the fringing of each woven cloth to create a playful matching napkinring - making sure there is zero spill in line with our policy.
Our bold striped Kikoi napkins are sold in sets of 6 (fabric napkinring included) they are made from Kikoi fabrics originating from Lamu & Laikipia. The napkins are sewn by Masai craftsmen on the Enasoit farm & animal conservation that we have collaborated with to shine a light on all the beauty of Kenyan Crafts.
Kenya 🇰🇪 Love 💛.
